Cheesecake, now known as Izzy, is in need of a new home as she sporatically has issues with the other resident dog. She is 5 years old, 70 pounds and listed as a lab/german shorthair pointer mix. She is a dynamic girl with lots of energy and just as much love to give, but needs to be the only pet.
She is housebroken but hasn't used a crate in several years. She is highly intelligent and loves to please. She has a solid foundation of training and listens attentively to her commands but we are working on leash walking. She also loves adventure and loves to hike, swim and do anything you want!
Cheesecake/Izzy is not just a well-trained dog; she's also incredibly trustworthy within the home (she will need some time to feel “at home”). You can count on her to be respectful of your belongings as she's not a chewer. Her impeccable manners extend beyond house training to encompass a general respect for the household environment, making her a fantastic addition to any home.
She has a strong prey drive and loves chasing bunnies, so she may not be the best fit for a home with cats due to this instinct. Additionally, Izzy exhibited some anxiety-induced misdirected aggression towards the original resident dog. While she forms strong bonds with her human caregivers, her ideal home is one where she can thrive as the sole pet, ensuring a peaceful and comfortable environment for all.
